  • A freezing rain advisory is in effect for Kent County beginning tonight at 3 a.m. and continuing until 9 a.m. tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow could begin after midnight and will likely merge into freezing rain around the morning commute, before becoming rain by midmorning on Friday. Because freezing rain is forecast to begin during the morning commute the National Weather Service is urging that motorist exercise caution, particularly on overpasses and bridges.
The Delaware Department of Transportation began pretreating roads in Kent County with a mixture of salt and water this afternoon. At 3 a.m. 30 crews will report for duty and at 7 a.m. the full staff will report.
