A Dover woman was arrested Jan. 7 after she allegedly tried to bring a handgun into the Kent County Courthouse.

Delaware Capitol Police have arrested a Dover woman after she allegedly tried to bring a weapon into a local court.

The incident took place Jan. 7, when the woman, identified as Brittany Austin, 20, of the first block of Pin Oak Drive, Dover, tried to enter the Kent County Courthouse, said police spokesman Sgt. Britt Davis. Security personnel took Austin into custody when a .22-caliber handgun was found in her purse as she passed through a security checkpoint.

Austin was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and later released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
