  • Delaware State Police are looking for three men who broke into a home near Dover and assaulted a resident before fleeing empty-handed.
The incident took place at approximately 1:15 a.m. Jan. 6, at a home in the first block of McDaniel Drive, said police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
The men got into the house through a rear door and confronted the 37-year-old man, who had been sleeping on a couch, Fournier said. The man struggled with the invaders, and was struck on the back of the head with a handgun, which discharged a round into the ceiling.
The suspects fled without taking any money or valuables, Fournier said.
The victim was taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and then released. There were three children in the home at the time, but they were not contacted or harmed by the suspects, Fournier said.
The victim could only describe his assailants as three men wearing dark clothing and black masks.
