Similar to artists like Old Crow Medicine Show and Pokey LaFarge, Woody Pines continues to explore the world of old 78 records to write new chapters in the anthology of American music.
Integrating sounds from Leadbelly to Bob Dylan, from Woodie Guthrie to Preservation Hall, Woody Pines belts out songs of fast cars, pretty women and hard luck with a distinctive vintage twang. The Woody Pines sound is completed with Shawn Supra slapping away on the upright bass, Brad Tucker on lead guitar and backing vocals, Joe Giotta on drums and Woody on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals.
Woody Pines will spread its brand of new folk at the World Café Live at The Queen in Wilmington tonight. Blues-rocker Jason Ager will open the show.

With eight Grammy Awards under his belt, the emcee Common is one of hip-hop's most poetic and respected lyricists in the game, and it's a title he's held for the last decade.
Common has built his house on hearty, meaningful lyrics and not frivolous, bubblegum content. He's worked with hip-hop's biggest names including Jay-Z ("Open Letter Part 2") and Talib Kweli and Mos Def ("Respiration"), and Kanye West ("The Morning"), as well as a ton of other artists.
His latest project came in 2011 with "The Dreamer/The Believer," his ninth studio album, featuring Maya Angelou ("The Dreamer"), Nas ("Ghetto Dreams") and John Legend ("The Believer").
Common will take his talents to The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Md., tonight. Estelle and Black Alley will open the show.
Although tickets are still available for the show, you'll want to buy them in advance since there's a great chance it'll sell out by this evening.

The never-ending energy that Mike Hines and the Look bring to their shows is enough to set any venue ablaze in a hurry.
A highly-regarded cover band in the First State, Mike Hines and the Look are a six-piece that specialize in r&b, hip-hop, pop and old school funk, along with a small taste of soul and disco. This sextet always gets their listeners involved and performs like there's no tomorrow. And when they play, nobody in the crowd sits down.
Mike Hines and the Look will once again keep the crowd on their toes, in more ways than one, when it gigs at Harrington Raceway & Casino's Bonz Lounge in Harrington on Saturday.
Led by talented frontman Mike Hines, the lead singer has been a featured vocalist in several bands on the East and West Coasts, and he's opened for acts such as The Ohio Players, Atlantic Star, Taylor Dayne, Chris Rock, Al B. Sure!, Lisa, Lisa and Naughty by Nature.
