Arthur R. “Art” Romesburg, 88 formerly of Saxton, PA passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19 with his loving wife by his side, at Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, DE.
Art was born on July 11, 1925 in Garrett, PA, son of the late Theodore Frank and Ethel M. (Bittner) Romesburg. He attended Robertsdale High School in PA. He was married to Thelma Miller on Feb. 19, 1948 by Oren R. Williams in Robertsdale, PA. He proudly served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force where he earned many awards/medals. During his service time he was stationed at Fort Devens, MA; Francis E. Warren AFB, WY; Maxwell Field, AL; Brize Norton AFB, England; Castle AFB, CA; Osan AFB, Korea and finally Dover AFB, DE. After retiring from the Air Force in August 1965, Art and his family settled in Camden, DE for another 10 years. During that time he worked for the Milford Police Dept., Warren Brothers, Scotten Contracting and Delaware Roads (now Tilcon).
In 1975 Art and Thelma returned to their “home” in PA where they owned and managed a country store, Little Valley Acres, for another 10 years. In 2008 Art and Thelma returned to DE to be near their daughter.
Art was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Elks. He was also a past President of the Huntington County Tourist Promotion Agency and past President of the Robertsdale Lions Club. Art enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, NASCAR, good old TV westerns and making regular visits with his friends, Reds and Bobby, to Helen's Sausage House.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Miller) Romesburg; son, Dan Romesburg and his wife Cindy of Lutz, FL; and his daughter Debbie Eason and her companion Jim Cain of Harrington, DE; three grandchildren, W. Eric Eason and his wife Rachel of Charleston AFB, SC, Ashley Eason of Felton, DE and Luke Romesburg of Lutz, FL; along with three great-grandchildren, W. Eric Eason, Jr., Chase Eason and Greyson Eason of Charleston AFB, SC. He is also survived by two nephews and their wives and families of Saxton, PA: Mark & Wanda Miller and Greg & Sharon Miller and their mother Minnie Miller.
Visitation and Service will be Sunday, Dec. 22 at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, 5010 Railroad Ave., Broad Top City, PA where visitation will be for 2 hours beginning at 1:00; the Service will begin at 3:00. A private burial will immediately follow at the Broad Top I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
