Harrington Police arrested two men Dec. 5 following a pedestrian stop where a bag containing burglars' tools and a pistol were found. The men were identified as Deshawn J. Benson, and Dion C. Harris, both 21, said police spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode. An officer patrolling the area of Liberty Street near Railroad Avenue spotted the men, who were wearing all black clothing, gloves, ski masks, with one carrying a book bag, Brode said. Neither man was carrying a light, he added. One of the men walked away from the officer when he stopped the men, but returned a short time later. A search of that area after the arrest turned up a bag containing a pellet gun and burglars' tools, Brode said. Taken to police headquarters for questioning, police determined Harris and Benson had planned to break into several area homes and were on their way to do so when stopped. Both were charged with possession of burglary tools, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second-degree conspiracy and pedestrian walking without a light. They later were released on $12,510 unsecured bond each.
