Roy J. Voshell passed away on November 24, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 96.
He was born on June 9, 1917, son of the late Luther and Sadie (Reed) Voshell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, “Elizabeth Semans and Kathryn Bickling; and two brothers, Kline Voshell and Grover Voshell, and daughter-in-law, Marjorie Papen Voshell.
During World War II, he worked as a welder in a ship yard for Bethlehem Steel. His past employments included a knitting machine operator at the Wyoming Hosiery Factory, the Bond Bread Company and the Diamond State Dairies. He then worked on Papen Farms until he retired. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and had many fond memories of quail hunting with friends and family. Roy was a longtime member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years Evelyn Shulties Voshell, a son, Harry M. Voshell and wife Janice of Dover; daughter June Voshell Papen and her husband Richard of Dover, a brother-in-law John T. Carey of Wyoming. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Carol Papen Traegler and husband Jim, Kathy Papen Maris and husband Bob, Kenneth Papen, Gregory Papen, Roy G. Voshell and wife Victoria all of Dover, Renee Voshell Simpson of Magnolia, Robin Voshell Romesburg and husband Dave of Aston, PA, 15 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, November 29 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where visitation will be two hours earlier. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
