A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a Nov. 11 fire that sent an elderly woman to the hospital.
Officers with the Delaware State Fire Marshal's office have arrested a 13-year-old male in connection with a Nov. 13 house trailer fire near Dover. The blaze critically injured an 85-year-old woman, said assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.
The fire, reported shortly before noon, occurred in the unit block of Tall Pines Drive near South State Street. The Camden-Wyoming Fire Company arrived on the scene with smoke coming from the occupied house trailer. Firefighters rescued the woman from the burning home.
The home's resident remains in critical condition at the Crozer Burn Center, Chester, Pa., suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.
The investigation concluded the blaze originated when the teen started the fire inside the dwelling.
He was arrested Nov. 21 and charged with reckless burning and first-degree reckless endangering; both charges are felonies, Chionchio said. The Fire Marshal's office declined to release the named of the accused teen.
The teen was committed to the Stevenson House in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
