  • Harrington Police have arrested a local woman after she allegedly took merchandise from a local store without paying for it.
The incident took place Nov. 15 at the Family Dollar store in the Midway Shopping Center, said police spokesman Lt. Earl Brode. The woman, identified as Jennifer L. Bruce, 40, allegedly took several items, got into her car, and fled.
Store employees recorded the car's license number, which led them to Bruce's residence in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue, where she was taken into custody. She was positively identified by store employees, Brode said.
Bruce was issued a criminal summons on a single charge of shoplifting items under $1,500, and released pending a court appearance.
