  • The Delaware Department of Transportation is advising motorists that two roads around Legislative Hall will be closed beginning at noon Friday, Nov. 8 and continuing through mid-afternoon on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Legislative Avenue at South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed, as well East Avenue at South Martin Luther King Boulevard. The closure is needed to allow for a legislative event to dedicate a World War II memorial.
The Delaware Department of State, the General Assembly and the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs have scheduled a dedication ceremony to unveil a monument honoring Delaware's World War II veterans on Saturday, Nov. 9 at noon on the south side of the Legislative Hall grounds in Dover.
The event will include a performance by the 287th Delaware National Guard Band and a flyover featuring a vintage Twin Beech aircraft.
After the ceremony, a gathering will be hosted at the Delaware Public Archives. WWII veterans will be located at the Delaware Public Archives to informally discuss their experiences with people who are interested. Parking will be available all around the grounds of Legislative Hall and Delaware Public Archives.
Motorists heading eastbound will take the established detour route starting from Water Street onto Legislative Avenue and then head east on Loockerman Street toward Route 13.
