  • Delaware State Police are investigating a head-on crash that occurred the morning of Nov. 6, west of Cheswold.
Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said the incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. as Christine G. Barr, 48, of Dover, was operating a 2007 Hyundai Sonata westbound on Seven Hickories Road, approximately one half-mile east of Seeneytown Road. Clayton resident Michael T. Bauers, 26, was operating a 1999 Dodge van eastbound on Route 42 and for unknown reasons crossed over the center line and into the westbound lanes where the van struck the Sonata head-on, Fournier said.
Both operators were properly restrained and were mechanically extricated by local fire departments. They were taken by EMS to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Bauers was cited for failure to remain in a single lane, expired registration, no proof of insurance and no registration in possession.
Seven Hickories Road was closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
