  • Dover rolls past Polytech; date with rival CR next

  • Just over two months ago there were talks of a Dover-area team challenging Middletown for the state's football crown. In most circles, that team was the Caesar Rodney Riders, a claim they've certainly earned. But after the Dover Senators' 28-3 victory over Polytech improved their record to 9-1 on Friday night, their could be another name to throw in the championship hunt.
Robert Knox had a spectacular night for the Senators, rushing for over 200 yards to help the cause. Guilty of laying of the gas against some opponents recently, Dover responded with a solid victory yielding just 3 points to the Panthers.
While the Senators were dispatching the much improved Panthers, just south the Riders were shutting out Smyrna 43-0. The Riders can now see the end of their arduous schedule, with the opportunity to come out of the other side at 7-3.
The Dover and Caesar Rodney rival is always a good one, but next Friday it has a chance to shine.
