Cheswold Police have arrested a Dover man on drug charges following a traffic stop.
The officer made the stop Oct. 30 in the area of Main Street and Moorton Road when his radar clocked a vehicle traveling 39 mph in a 25 mph zone, said Chief of Police Christopher Workman.
The driver was identified as Kenyal Stevenson, 19, Workman said.
While speaking with Stevenson, Workman said the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, after which Stevenson admitted he was carrying the drug and that it was hidden under the car’s passenger seat.
After confiscating the material, the officer also found a metal grinder and digital scale, which also were seized, Workman said.
Stevenson was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to have insurance identification and speeding in excess of posted limits.
He was released from custody on $550 unsecured bail pending a court appearance.
