The local non-profit to benefit for November's First Friday in downtown Dover is Caring Hearts Helping Hands, an organization based in Camden-Wyoming devoted to assisting families in need in Kent County.
Many of the businesses participating in First Friday will remain open until 7 p.m., while some will stay open later.
ON FEDERAL STREET
The Biggs Museum of American Art will present the opening reception for Refining the Region: the Landscapes of Bayard T. Berndt.
ON LOOCKERMAN STREET
Dover Public Library will host the In Harmony concert series presented by a musical performance by Apex Revolution, formerly Insane Courage at 7 p.m.
Bel Boutique will have a champagne celebration in honor of November's topaz and citrine birthdays.
ON WEST LOOKERMAN STREET
A Center for Mental Wellness will provide parents with information about child mental health as well as have some activities and treats for children when they stop by. November is National Child Mental Health Awareness Month.
Dover Art League will be making construction paper turkeys and offering temporary tattoos.
Speaking of turkeys, from now until Thanksgiving the Dover Art League will collect non-perishable goods for the Food Bank of Delaware, which is asking for the public's assistance in making sure that no Delawarean goes without a holiday meal this season.
Forney's has something new for you to see and enjoy, along with great hostess gifts.
Forney's Too is offering specials on select merchandise.
Partners in Design will kick off First Friday with a holiday open house all day Friday and Saturday, with refreshments and special door prizes. Partner in Design will be open six days a week until Christmas.
The Golden Fleece will present music by Brian McDaniels at 5 p.m., followed by Stacks Entertainment at 10 p.m. Finger foods will be available for happy hour.
Bayard Pharmacy will offer free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. Refreshments will be available from Frankfurt Bakery and Amici's Neighborhood Market.
ON SOUTH GOVERNORS AVENUE
Touch of Glass will be serving light refreshments and cider. Every purchase over $10 (excluding consignment) will be 25-percent off. Come in costume to receive a free gift.
Beyond Dimensions will feature music by Mike Nielsen and the beautiful sounds of his harp.
Frankfurt Bakery will have "Arts in the Alley" and music by DJ Stick, as well as lots of goodies for sale. Customers can also place their holiday orders. The deli will open late for dinner.
Rouge Boutique will offer refreshments and light snacks. Rogue will also reveal scented oils by a mixologist of lotions and potions from Rehoboth Beach. There will be sample giveaways, too.

AT LOOCKERMAN WAY PLAZA
The United Way food drive will feature Caesar Rodney High School and Dover High School accepting food donations on Loockerman Way during First Friday. Come out and vote with a donation of food for your favorite school and its poster art. On Tuesday both high schools will square off again at Grotto Pizza in Dover. Each high school will field a pizza eating team consisting of a teacher, a cheerleader, a male athlete and a female athlete. The "winning" team will receive a donation from Grotto for a percentage of the evening's sales to the nonprofit of their choice.
