Virginia P. Kingery, 79, passed away in her sleep on October 27, 2013, surrounded by her loving family in the home she so loved. Ginny was born on January 17, 1934 and was raised on a dairy farm outside of Frederica. She was predeceased by her brother, Lewis Postles and sister, Barbara Ann Postles. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1952. Upon graduation, she began her employment with International Playtex as secretary in Personnel working her way up as administrative secretary for several Vice Presidents of Manufacturing. She retired in 1987.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed water skiing on Silver Lake and the Choptank River. She bowled for several women’s and mixed leagues and often traveled for championship tournaments. She was a talented crafter and seamstress making numerous afghans, tablecloths, drapes, spreads, sweaters, pictures, and her ever popular Christmas stockings. She had a collection of clocks and always enjoyed listening to them and their chimes. Upon retirement, Ginny took up golfing and enjoyed playing both locally and at their Florida residence where she was a snowbird for 22 years. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and Bingo with her family and friends. While traveling, she loved looking for deer and owls and would get so excited when spotting one. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Upsulon Chapter and The First Baptist Church, Dover.
Ginny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and is survived by her beloved husband, Calvin O. Kingery, of 57 years, their daughter, Teresa (Terry) K. Dotson, son-in-law, Lawrence R. (Randy) Dotson, grandchildren, Jenna L. Dotson Stamas and husband Gregory, of Gloucester, VA, Jaclyn D. Dotson, at home, Bradley A. Dotson, of Dover, great grandson, Landon A. Stamas as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 pm to 8 pm., Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Interment will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
