  • Deacon David Lee Hand, Sr. made his transition on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Deacon Hand was born to the late Henry & Sarah Louise Hand on October 20, 1934 in Baltimore Maryland. He grew up in Burgaw, North Carolina where he graduated from Pope High School. After graduation, he spent some time in San Francisco, CA before attending North Carolina A&T State University. He later joined the United States Army, where he served for over six years. After his military stint, he continued his education and received a BA degree in accounting from Pace University in New York. Deacon Hand retired as an accountant on Wall Street from U.S. Trust Company in New York, NY. He was a member of the Dover Miracle Revival Center in Harrington, Delaware. Deacon Hand’s joy in life was spending time with his family, camping, cooking and enjoying laughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Lillian Hand, 2 brothers Eddie Hand, and Melvin Hand. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife, Delcina L. Hand of Delaware; son, David L. Hand, Jr.; daughter, Pastor Daphne L. Warrington; Son-in-law, Pastor James A. Warrington, Jr.; Daughter-in-law, Dawn M. Hand; brother, Joseph Hand and his wife Sandy of Orangeburg, NY; sisters, Daisy Wallace and her husband Joseph of Burgaw, NC, Mozell Gibson and her husband David of Burgaw, NC, Venetta Wilson and her husband Freddy of Wilmington, NC, Gwendolyn Peterson and her husband Arthur of Wilmington, NC; Grandchildren, Candise, Brittney, Jazzmin, David Brock-Anthoney, Kourtney, Isaiah and one great grandson, Gauis. (Aunts, Nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and very close Friends.) A Celebration of Life will be held 9AM, Friday October 25, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 6-8PM, Thursday evening. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
