The Dover Art League and Downtown Dover Partnership are collaborating to bring new visitors to the downtown corridor with some seasonal First Friday activities.
This Friday, as the Downtown Dover Merchants celebrates First Friday beginning at 5 p.m. on Loockerman Way, children can navigate through a straw maze donated by TA Farms, LLC of Wyoming.
To add to the fun, the Dover Art League is sponsoring a free craft activity and complimentary temporary tattoos for children through 7 p.m.
Pumpkin painting will also be available – free for children thanks to the donations of Fifer Orchards, in Camden.
A professional photographer will be on hand to capture images of participants alongside interactive art displays of artist Joyce Lapp. Electronic photos will be made available to the public at no charge.
"We are eager to decorate Loockerman Way Plaza with all our fall decorations," said Dover Art League President Tammy Miller. "I can't wait to see the excitement this brings to the children."
As part of each First Friday event, the participating Downtown Dover Merchants adopt a local not-for-profit organization through the "First Friday Gives Back" program. Danny Palmer, of TA Farms, has donated 50 mums to benefit October's adopted non-profit, Cancer Support Community Delaware. These mums will be given away to the first 50 people that donate at least $5 to the cause.
