The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration Fundraiser will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 at Cowboy Up, 1036 Lafferty Lane, Dover.
Anyone with a family member or friend suffering from dementia are invited to attend. The theme is “Food For Thought,” according to Eugenia “Gene” Thornton, who, along with friends, created the evening on behalf of Don Jagger, her husband of 37 years. Don, 65, after years of increasing dementia-related problems, was recently diagnosed with FTD, a fatal disease that affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.
The purpose of the event is not to raise money for Don but rather for the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s efforts to bring FTD and dementia-related illnesses to public attention.
Celebrity bartenders, country line dancing, a 50/50 raffle and more will be available. Raffle prizes will include an oil change, a bouquet, a case of Fordham soda, dog training lessons, a day on Andrews Lake, and tickets to Cowboy Up’s Country Jam. Bartending tips and 10 percent of the entire day's food sales at Cowboy Up will be donated to the association.
