Lake Forest scored two goals in the first half, then scored an insurance goal in the second half to defeat St. Thomas More 3-1 in field hockey Saturday afternoon.

Kori Johnson scored two goals to lead visiting Lake Forest to a 3-1 victory over St. Thomas More Academy Saturday afternoon. Jocelyn Hughes opened the scoring with 24:10 remaining in the first half. Then Johnson scored the first of her two goals at 14:29. But the Lady Ravens got on the board with 4:35 remaining to make the score 2-1 heading into halftime. Joanna Petrosky scored the Ravens goal. Raven coach Molly Phillips said she has a young squad this year, "But we're playing better and we have a game against a Maryland team next week, so we have to move on and prepare for that game," she said. Johnson added the Lady Spartans' insurance goal with 16:14 remaining in the game. The Ravens apparently scored a second goal with about ten minutes left, but the goal was disallowed because the official ruled the shot was too high. This is a new rule in high school field hockey this season. Spartans' coach Beth Jacobs said she was very pleased with her team's play on Saturday. "We moved the ball very well and we passed well, and our defense was very good today," she said.
