Two New Jersey men, identified as Kareem E. Crouch, 31, and Arthur J. Reynolds, 61, both of Atlantic City, N.J., were arrested Sept. 28 in the Midway Shopping Center, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Sgt. Adam Gillespie.
Police were called when a witness reported seeing two men dressed in black and wearing ski masks behind a business Gillespie said. The men fled on foot through the shopping center parking lot after officers tried to contact them but were quickly caught.
Both men had allegedly tried to gain entry into a business and were thought to be trying to burglarize another when officers arrived, Gillespie said.
Crouch and Reynolds were charged with possession of burglary tools, third-degree attempted burglary, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree conspiracy, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and third-degree criminal trespass.
They were jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, in default of a $17,501 secured bond each.
Both men were linked to similar crimes in Middletown and Milford as well as Arlington, Va. There are pending investigations with related crimes in other Delaware jurisdictions as well in as surrounding states, Gillespie said.
