A 45-year-old Harrington man was arrested by the Harrington Police Department on Sept. 24 after police investigated a rape complaint.
Harrington Police Department detectives and the Child Advocacy Center conducted an investigation with a 15-year-old victim after police were contacted about a rape that occurred in the 16000 block of South Dupont Highway in Harrington, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
Investigation revealed that the suspect, 45-year-old Robert J. Pickle began communicating with the 15-year-old victim through an online social network, Brode said.
Officers determined that between February 2013 and September 2013, the victim and Pickle engaged in sexual acts on several different occasions at Pickle’s residence and in the Slaughter Beach area, Brode said.
Pickle was taken into custody at his residence and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.
Pickle was charged with 26 counts of third-degree rape and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Pickle was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $675,000 secured bond.
