Harrington Police have arrested a local man, identified as Robert J. Pickle, 45, charging him with rape and sexual abuse of a child.
Harrington Police have arrested a local man, identified as Robert J. Pickle, 45, concluding a rape investigation.
Police were contacted about a rape complaint that took place in the 16000 block of South DuPont Highway, Harrington, said police spokesman Lt. Earl Brode. Detectives conducted their investigation in conjunction with the Child Advocacy Center and the 15-year-old victim.
Detectives determined the victim and Pickle had been communicating via social media, and that the sex acts took place between February and September 2013 at Pickle's home and in the Slaughter Beach area.
Pickle was arrested at his home without incident, Brode said.
Pickle was charged with 26 counts of third-degree rape and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
He was ordered held at the Sussex Correctional Institute, Georgetown, in default of a $675,000 secured bond.
