  • Ethel Virginia Sullivan Welch, 94, of Dover, Delaware, formerly of Montvale, New Jersey and Newport, Delaware, died on September 19 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of William who pre-deceased her. Among those that she leaves behind are her daughter Florence Aeveia Magdalena and her husband David Bayer, son James Conrad Welch and his husband Ivo Dominguez, Jr, grandchildren Deborah Kathleen Seidel and her husband Richard Seidel, Jeffrey Bower and his wife Lauren Wool, and great-grandchildren Sabina Wool Bower and Liana Claire Welch Bower. She was a former member of West Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, Highlands United Presbyterian Church in Allendale, New Jersey where she served as a Deacon and an Elder and was also a member of the choir. She was a Life Member of the Brandywiners, a Bell Ringer with the Westside Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, New Jersey and sang with the Ridgewood Choral Inc. She was also a member of the Bergen County Cancer Society. When she lived in Newport she was very involved in the Newport Women’s Association. She was born in Wilmington, graduated from Wilmington High School and graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse in Delaware and New Jersey, a profession she continued to love and support. Both of her children also became Registered Nurses. A Memorial Service will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. duPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720 at 11 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Soul Support Systems, 18 The Square, Suite 20, Bellows Falls, VT 05101 and/or The New Alexandrian Library, 14914 Deer Forest Road, Georgetown, DE 19947. A Memorial Service will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. duPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720 at 11 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Friends may call one hour prior.
