William Thomas McClain, 88, Dover, passed away peacefully Friday September 6, 2013 at KGH Bay Health Dover.
He was born on July 25, 1925 in Middletown, DE to the late George and Addie Ivory McClain.
Mr. McClain retired as a test coordinator from ILC after a 35-year career. In 1943 he was drafted in to the Army and became part of the support staff for the invasion of Normandy. He remained in Europe until the end of the war. After leaving the military he returned to Delaware and on March 3, 1946 married Ruth Daniels, a marriage which lasted 63 years. His hobbies included woodworking, working with his tools, gardening, and NASCAR. His is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Daniels McClain, five brothers George, Norman, John, Harry, and Donald. one sister Elizabeth.
He is survived by Son, Courtney Conner of Dover, DE. Daughter, Barbara Conner of Dover, DE. Sister, Josephine Collison of Camden, DE. Sister in Law, Octavia McClain of Wilmington, DE and many nieces and nephews.
Remembrance Services will be held Wed. Sept. 11, 2013 at noon at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE.
