Dover Police have arrested a Maryland man, identified as Jerome Williams, 21, after a carjacking incident at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino.
The incident took place at 3:35 p.m. Sept. 7, said police spokesman Capt. Tim Stump, when Williams allegedly approached a woman who was seated in her car in the casino parking lot.
Williams demanded money, and the woman fled her car, Stump said. He was seen searching the car, and then fleeing the area. Police apprehended Williams in the parking lot of the J.C. Penney store in the adjacent Dover Mall.
Williams was charged with first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree carjacking, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and resisting arrest.
He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in default of a $47,000 cash bond.
