More than 40 Special Olympics athletes from the surrounding areas will compete in the annual Special Olympics Delaware Cycling Competition on Sept. 14.

More than 40 Special Olympics athletes from the surrounding areas will compete in the annual Special Olympics Delaware Cycling Competition on Sept. 14.

The event will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Dover Air Force Base Air Command Museum, 1301 Heritage Road, Dover.

More than 200 personnel are scheduled to volunteer when the event kicks off with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m., followed by the cycling races and an awards ceremony. Cyclists will compete in races of varying distances: 500 meter, 1 kilometer, 5K, 10K, 15K, 20K, and tandems of various distances.
