  • Chief Master Sergeant Roy Shiry Peterman, Ret., passed away Friday, August 30, 2013, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 93. Roy was born, November 9, 1919 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to the Late Thomas Roy & Irene(Ogden) Peterman. He served proudly in the United States Air Force, for over 30 years; and at the time he had been the youngest person to achieve the Rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Roy had tours during WWII, Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict. In his free time, Mr. Peterman enjoyed working on cars, and building wood furniture. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge # 7, Dover; as well as the Scottish Rite, Wilmington, where he achieved the 32nd degree. Roy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence(Wilson) Peterman; 4 Daughters, Terry Lee Peterman, of Franklinton, N.C., Ann Irene Silcox, of Willow Street,PA., Rorie Sue Hastings, of Milford, & Sandy Jo Strusowski, of Smyrna. 2 Sisters, Elsie Sylvis, of Williamsport,PA. and Linda Hastings, of McKenery, Illinois., 7 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren. Services will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford,DE. 19963.
