A 55-year-old Kenton-area man has been taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital after holding off police inside his home for four-and-a-half hours on Wednesday.
The incident began at approximately 3 p.m., said Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack, when troopers received a call about a suicidal man who had barricaded himself in a home in the 1000 block West Deer Trail Road, Kenton.
Shavack said Special Operations Response Team members went into the house at approximately 7:30 p.m., found the man, and took him into custody without incident.
There were no injuries as a result, he added.
Residents evacuated from the area were allowed to return to their homes, and roads in the White tail development were reopened, he said.
