Carolyn Elaine Jackson of Leipsic, DE, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013. Carolyn was known to everyone as Elaine.
Elaine was born and raised in Marshallton, DE, and she was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Conrad High School in Wilmington, DE. She worked for Porter Motors for many years and later went to work for the New Castle County Police Department, from where she retired in 2002. She was always known to give a helping hand to those in need.
Elaine enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved sharing memories of her childhood and different events throughout her life. She also looked forward to the holidays, and decorating and eating special foods of the season. Through the years, Elaine enjoyed dancing and listening to blue grass music.
Elaine was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Tibbett; her father, Lee Roy Tibbett, Sr.; her sister, Phyllis Rollo; and brothers, Ralph F., C. Raymond, William, Charles, and Harry Moffett, and Marvin Tibbett.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Willis A. Jackson; her brother, Lee Roy Tibbett, Jr. and his wife, Shirley; brother-in-law, David Jackson and his wife, Sharon; sister-in-law, Sally Jackson and her wife, Starlet Quill; a special nephew who she and Willis helped raise, Richard N. Burns and his wife, Lisa; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10 am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna.
Funeral services will begin at 11 am.
Burial will follow in Townsend Cemetery.
