  • The Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization is looking for public input on a number of proposed changes to its Transportation Improvement Program for fiscal years 2014-2017.
Changes to the TIP warrant a minimum 30-day public review and comment period, which will begin Sept. 4-Oct. 4. There are eight proposed TIP amendments, totaling approximately $4 million. Six changes involve bridge repairs in Kent County and two involve transit. The proposed bridge maintenance and repairs, which would cost around $2.9 million in total, are for bridges at Little Creek Road, Irish Hill Road, Spider Web Road, West Railroad Avenue, and two at Canterbury Road.
One of the proposed amendments for transit would add an extra bus to the Dover/Smyrna DART Route 120 at a cost of $865,000. The other transit-related TIP amendment would add $250,000 for parking lot maintenance at the Delaware Transit Corporation maintenance and operations facility behind the Delaware Department of Transportation building in Dover.
