The Kent County SPCA is setting a goal to neuter 25 male cats Sept. 3 at no cost to residents in Dover, Camden, and Wyoming through Project Purr.
Project Purr is made possible through a targeted grant from PetSmart Charities. The goal is to alter 1,500 cats from the three areas over two years. With four months left in the two year grant, the Kent County SPCA has altered more than 1,200 cats.
The purpose of targeting the grant program to specific areas was to be able to measure the effect of spay/neuter in an area where pet over population was significant. The cats fixed through Project Purr also receive a rabies vaccination and a microchip with the first year's registration at no additional cost.
