  • A Saturday afternoon fire near Hartly caused an estimated $750,000 damage to a home and garage which contained a collection of cars.
There were no reported injuries, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.
The blaze, reported shortly before 2 p.m., occurred in the 3100 block of Halltown Road (Route 8), south of Hartly and northeast of Marydel.
A fire alarm signaling system detected the fire and alerted the Kent County Emergency 911 Center.
When firefighters from Hartly Fire Company arrived, smoke was pouring from the two-story dwelling, Chionchio said.
The structure had a collection of antique vehicles on the first floor and the living residence on the second floor.
Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office are still investigating to determine how the fire started.
