A 50-year-old Houston woman, identified as Betty G. Benson, was arrested by the Harrington Police Department during an undercover drug operation conducted by the Harrington and Felton Police Departments.
Two undercover officers contacted Benson around midnight on Aug. 16 to buy crack cocaine and Benson allegedly agreed to sell the drug to the undercover officers, said police spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode.
After designating a location for the transaction, Benson left and returned to the specified location in the area of East Street and Mill Street in Harrington and sold the undercover officers 0.5 grams of crack cocaine, Brode said.
After completing the transaction, Benson was taken into custody by patrol units and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.
A computer check revealed that Benson was wanted on a warrant out of Kent County Family Court.
Benson was charged with manufactures, delivers or possesses with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Benson was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $6,045 cash bond.
