  • William E. Attix of Dover passed away Wednesday August 7, 2013 at Silverlake Nursing Home. He was 88. Mr. Attix was born March 20, 1925 in Cheswold, Delaware to the late Earl Attix and Mary Masten Attix. He had served in the United States Army for 4 years. Mr. Attix spent his life farming and handling racehorses. He loved hunting for small game, training his horses, country music and dancing, but he especially loved spending time with his family. Mr. Attix was a member of the Trotter USTA, the VFW and American Legion in Smyrna. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, William T. Attix, 1965; brothers Donald and Gilbert Attix; sister, Isabel Jarman. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ellen Dixon Attix of Dover; daughters, Donna Clendaniel and her husband Kenny of Dover, Sherrie Ayers and her husband Bill of Magnolia Patty Carrar and her husband Manny of Dover; Robert Attix and his wife Carol of Smyrna; sisters, Thelma Pryor of Dover, Emily Woodall of Harrington, Clara Gravatt of Dover, Mary Joan Pratt and her husband Wright of Smyrna; seven grandchildren, Tim Brady (Bridget), Tara Stone, Tracy Attix, Curtus Knight (Tina), Dylan Carrar (Melissa), Matt Carrar (Holly)and Jessie Wurzel (Justin); Eleven great grandchildren Codie Tribbitt (Shelby), Jordan Brady, Zack Stone, Cameron Stone, Chelsea Carrar, Carly Knight, CeJay Knight, Ayden Carrar, Devon Carrar, Kaylynn Wurzel, Daemion Wurzel. Funeral services will be held 1PM, Monday August 12, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 11-1. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company, P.
