Harrington Police have arrested a local man, identified as Jerome A. Loveless, 54, after he allegedly drove under the influence.
The incident began at 2:44 a.m. Aug. 11, on Delaware Avenue when an officer tried to stop Loveless’ vehicle for a traffic violation, said police spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode. Loveless allegedly drove away at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at two stop signs, barely missing a telephone pole while turning onto Dorman Street and then running up onto the grass at W.T. Chipman Middle School. He finally came to a stop on Dorman Street, near North Street, and was taken into custody after the officer noticed the odor of alcohol coming from him.
Loveless was charged with driving under the influence, five counts of failure to signal a turn, three counts of failure to stop at a stop sign and two additional traffic violations.
He was released pending a future appearance at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover.
