Dover Police have obtained warrants for the arrest of Rashid M. Shabazz, a homeless sex offender who has failed to register his whereabouts with police as required by law.

The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and registration Unit is looking for a Dover-area sex offender after he failed to verify his current status as homeless.

Investigators have obtained warrants on Rashid M. Shabazz, 54, of Dover, who is a medium risk Tier 2 sex offender, said Master Cpl. Gary Fourier, spokesman for the Delaware State Police.

Homeless sex offenders are required to re-register with the police every 30 days, Fournier said.

Shabazz is described as a black man standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous scars and tattoos on his arms, chest, back and shoulders.

He is listed under several aliases, to include Michael S. Benson, Satan Benson, Omar Shabazz and Milton Benson.

Shabazz was convicted in 2006 of unlawful sexual contact where the victim was between 12 and 15 years of age.
