Leora M. Walker, 89, of Magnolia peacefully passed away Friday, July 26th at her daughter’s home in Bear.
Leora was born on June 21st 1924 to the late Clarence and Margaret Moore in Milton De. After graduating form high school she worked at the Milton button factory until marrying the late Roland “Bud” Walker in 1942. After his military service in 1945 they began a farming career in Milford Neck lasting 22 years. Leora was a homemaker and well know for her fabulous fried chicken.
She enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving the vegetables that were grown.
She attended Lebanon Wesleyan Church for many years, serving the Lord by always helping others. In her latter years, she especially enjoyed holiday celebrations at her daughter’s home.
Leora was blessed with a good marriage and loving husband of almost 60 years, three children, four brothers and two sisters and a close relationship with her mother in law. She is survived by two sons, William H. Walker of Magnolia and Robert F. Walker of Eugene, Ore.: a daughter Phyllis (Pell) Sherman of Bear: 3 grandchildren, Michael (Dee) Sherman of Stevens, PA, Gerri (KC) Marshall of Middletown, and Jon (Kristen) Sherman of Newark: 6 great grandchildren, Amara and Elyssa of Stevens, Pa: Danielle and Sean Marshall of Middletown, and Like and Marc Sherman of Newark. She is also survived by a brother Clayton Moore of Milford and a sister Jeanette Gray of Milford, and several nieces and nephews.
Grave side services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown on Friday August 2nd 2013. There will be no viewing. No flowers please, but contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810
