  • Police shut down Felton marijuana growing operation

  • Delaware State Police concluded a drug investigation in the Felton area July 10 with the arrest of a local man, identified as Curtis D. Jones, 31.
    Jones turned himself in after troopers served a search warrant at a home in the 1700 block of Irish Hill Road, said police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack
    Troopers seized 41 grams of powdered cocaine and discovered a large tent inside a bedroom being used as a marijuana grow chamber. The tent was equipped with artificial lighting, soil, fertilizers and a ventilation fan to circulate air. Troopers found 48 marijuana plants in various stages of maturity inside the tent and two large marijuana plants growing in the rear of the home.
    Troopers located two boxes of medical marijuana seeds, a digital scale utilized to weigh drugs, several high capacity handgun ammunition magazines, and a box of .38-caliber ammunition
    Jones was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine in Tier 4 quantity, possession of cocaine in Tier 5 quantity, possession of ammunition by person prohibited (prior violent crime felony), manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $90,000 secured bond.
