Walter Edward Bagley of Dover passed peacefully at home Sunday July 7, 2013. He was 67.
Mr. Bagley was born July 17, 1945 in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Robert Bagley and Mabel Irene Brank Bagley.
He had served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years. Mr. Bagley had worked for Safeway Supermarkets in Delaware and Maryland for over 20 years, then owned and operated Walt’s Dairy Bar and Blue Hen Catering in Dover. He also owned and operated The Latest Scoop Ice Cream Shop in Rehoboth. Mr. Bagley was also a seasonal employee for Delaware Parks and Recreation and DNREC Fish and Wildlife. He was a 32 Degree Mason and was presently serving as treasurer for Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing. Mr. Bagley held the office of President for both Kent Ecumenical Food and Crisis Fund and the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
He is survived by his wife of 45 Years, Inez Gladden Bagley of Dover; son, Michael Bagley of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Robert “Bob” Bagley and his wife Carol of Atlanta, GA, Charles Bagley and his wife Joanne of Hope Mills, NC; sister, Peggy Dick and her husband Steve of Tampa, FL.
Funeral services will be held 1PM, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Friends may call from 6-8 Friday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing, PO Box 1148, Dover, DE 19903.
