Police are asking the public's assistance in finding a man who stole cigarettes from a local convenience store.

Detectives with the Harrington Police Department are asking the public’s assistance in attempting to identify a shoplifting suspect.

The incident took place July 4 at the Valero gas station in the 17000 block of South DuPont Highway, said police spokesman Lt. Earl Brode. The man came into the store, took a pack of Newport cigarettes and fled, Brode said.

The suspect is described as a black man standing between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing between 185 and 200 pounds.
