NEW CANDLELIGHT THEATRE - Forever Plaid

A melancholy day in the early '50's.  Dick Clark and American Bandstand had a moment of silence. The PLAIDS, the next 4 man group to take over the mantle of  harmony and doo wop from "The Four Aces", "The Four Freshman", ( yet precursors to AND idols  of "The Four Seasons" and The Four Tops" ), well... Jinx, Sparky, Francis and Smudge met an untimely demise. (Aisle Say cannot speak of HOW this happened for he is still in denial.)

The show is a revue of the close-harmony "guy groups". We are fortunate. The PLAIDS get to return to earth for one night only to perform the concert of a lifetime.  The heavenly quartet show off their close harmony singing some of the greatest hits of the 50s including “Catch a Falling Star”,” Three Coins in the Fountain”, “Sixteen Tons”, “Chain Gang” and “Love is a Many Splendored Thing”.

Directed/Choreo'd by the multi-talented Dann Dunn. LIVE combo under the direction of John Daniels.

Opening July 12 thru August 24.  NCTStage.org  302.475.2313

DELAWARE VALLEY FILMMAKING FOUNDATION

Twenty five years ago Aisle Say was asked to be on the fledging DE Film Commission. Robin Williams starred in THE DEAD POETS SOCIETY, filmed at the magnificent St. Andrews School in Middletown. With Delaware's ability to get things done with a phone call or two, there were great expectations as to a location destination for Hollywood. The commission soon fizzled.

Freeze frame and fast forward. Film makers Bill Page, Beverly Kuhn-Moyer and John Rusk founded the group. Page produced and starred in his own motion picture. Rusk has over the decades established MAJOR credits, working with none other than the husbands of Angelina Jolie and Calista Flockhart, among dozens of others. Yet Rusk lives with his family here in New Castle County.

Other board members including Ric Edevan, Tina Betz, Nancy B. Lynch, Luke Matheny (of Oscar fame), Jack Wick III, and Steve Ennen. The group is committed to bringing together diverse artists and communities in the promotion of filmmaking, both narrative and documentary. The Foundation seeks to assist artists through workshops, mentoring, and workforce development. The Foundation will provide educational opportunities for qualified aspiring filmmakers and technicians to assist in the production of all phases and aspects of filmmaking, including, but not limited to, screenwriting, directing, producing, principal photography, and post production.

A kickoff fundraiser will be at Brandywine Brewing Co. in Greenville on July 11 from 6-9pm. There will be a host of famous and infamous bar tenders, Aisle Say being one and fitting the latter category. DVFF has a FB group of the same page.

The event is up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/168502946657559/?ref=2, so please make sure you 'like' it and hit 'attending' for yourself and then please invite all of your 'friends' to attend.   The goal is to have every guest bartender invite at least 100 of the Facebook friends to attend.
