Lucy C. (Grupposo) McDermott of Dover, Delaware passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old.
Lucy was born on April 7, 1929 in Natick, MA to Michele and Candelora (Beradini) Grupposo. A graduate of Natick High School, she later married Robert F. McDermott who was forever the love of her life. She enjoyed 39 years of marriage until they were parted in 1995.
Lucy was a loving wife, a doting mother, an amazing grandmother and joyful great-grandmother. Known to many as “Miss Lucy” or “Nanny”, her life solely revolved around her family and friends. She enjoyed attending concerts, reading, movies and most of all, shopping.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. McDermott, her parents, four brothers and one sister
She is survived by a brother, Anthony Grupposo, of Natick, MA; her four children: Robert F. McDermott, Jr. and wife Dana of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Luanne E. McDermott of Newark, DE; Sharon C. Daube and husband Peter of Dover, DE and Maureen McDermott Cannon and husband John, also of Dover, DE.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brian Daube and wife Ashley of Dover, DE, Christopher Daube and girlfriend Megan Cash of Dover, DE, Charles and Molly McDermott of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; a great-grandchild, Joshua Daube, many loving nieces and nephews, and her beloved granddogs, Sobear, DaisyLu, Russell and Archie.
A special thank you goes out to the members of the Delaware Hospice Team who so gently and tenderly cared for our mother.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4pm-7pm at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street in Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 1 at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE followed by internment at 11am at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake Road in Bear, DE.
