  • The Delaware State Police have taken a subject into custody after a four hour stand-off.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. the 31-year-old man willingly left the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect, who was not injured, was taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital for evaluation, said police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
The incident began at approximately 12:20 p.m. when the Wyoming Police Department received a call about an armed man who was threatening to harm himself. Upon the officers' arrival the man had run back into the house and barricaded himself inside.
The Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and Conflict Management Team responded to the scene and established contact with him and eventually persuaded him to surrender.
Area residents who were evacuated would be allowed to return to their homes by approximately 5:15 p.m. Willow Grove Road, west of South Street and east of Brenda Lane also will be reopened by approximately 5:15 p.m., Fournier said.
