Delaware State Police have peacefully resolved a three-and-a-half hour standoff between a Dover woman and troopers.
The incident began at approximately 3:19 p.m. June 17 when troopers went to a home in the 100 block of Pine Tree Drive in the Pinewood Mobile Home Park, said police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier. Troopers learned the 34-year-old woman had threatened to harm herself and that she had been involved in an altercation with her 17-year-old son the night before. Troopers found the woman had threatened her son with a knife and that she might still have been armed after locking herself in the house alone.
Troopers set up a perimeter around the house and members of the Delaware State Police Conflict Management Team and Special Operations Response Team responded to the home where they tried to talk with the suspect and get her to leave the house. The woman continually refused, Fournier said.
At approximately 6:45 p.m. woman voluntarily left the home and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect, who was not injured, was taken to Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital for an evaluation.
Further information may be released once the suspect is formally charged and arraigned, Fournier said.
