Mr. Emory Wayne Streets, of Dover, Del., passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Streets was born in Millsboro, Del. to the late Clarence A. and Martha Ann Street. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by an ex-wife, Carolese, (Carrie) Streets, brothers, Sherman, Melvin and Nelson Street, and sisters, Catherine Hopkins, Theresa Carney, and Edith Harmon.
Emory was employed at the Sony Corporation in the engineering dept. in New York City. After moving back to Delaware he worked at Shepards Place as a supervisor of maintenance. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in WWII, and a member of the American Legion. He loved gardening, yard sales, helping people, family reunions, and family life. He was very outgoing, friendly, and strong willed.
He is survived by a son, Charles (Chuck) Streets and wife Paula of Bridgeton, N.J.: a brother, Norman Street and wife Janell of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Elva Morris and husband John of St. Augustine, Fla.; and Shirley Daisey and husband William of Dover, Del.; fiance’ Barbara Schumacher of Dover, Del.; grandchildren; Charles Streets, Jr. and Brad Streets; step-daughter, Alleyne Hughley of New York; sisters-in-law Patience Harmon of Millsboro, Del., Elaine Street of New Jersey, Doris Street of Calif., a brother-in-law, Noah Hopkins, New Jersey. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, Del. 19966, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
