  • State police apprehend suspects after lengthy pursuit

  • Delaware State Police were patrolling West Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna last Thursday, looking for Aaron O. Lowman, a level three probationer of Dover, who had three felony warrants out for his arrest stemming, all pertaining to separate pursuits a capias out of Kent County Superior Court for violation of probation.

  • Delaware State Police were patrolling West Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna last Thursday, looking for Aaron O. Lowman, a level three probationer, who had three felony warrants out for his arrest stemming, all pertaining to separate pursuits a capias out of Kent County Superior Court for violation of probation.
    Police spotted Lowman driving a silver Nisan Altima, which he had been seen driving during a pursuit earlier that same day.
    When state police attempted to pull Lowman over on U.S. Route 13 he fled east on the U.S. Route 13 northbound and then east onto Paddock Road, where police lost sight of him.
    While searching the area a witness informed police and probation officers that the car was traveling eastbound on Deakyneville Road, which circled around and would only lead to Delaware Route 9.
    Police located the car again traveling westbound on Thoroughfare Neck Road, where it turned northbound on Delaware Route 9. It continued for approximately a half a mile before Lowman lost control of the vehicle, overturning at a sharp corner just north of Saw Mill Branch Road.
    Lowman escaped out of the back window, which had been shattered during the crash. He attempted to flee on foot, but after a brief struggle police subdued him using a taser.
    Marshay L. Johnson of Smyrna, the car's front seat passenger was taken into custody by police after exiting the vehicle.
    When police searched the vehicle they found 22 caliber handgun, one bag of heroin weighing .025 grams, 15 Alprazolam prescription pills, .01 gram of marijuana, three hypodermic needles, additional drug paraphernalia and over $550.00 in suspected drug proceeds.
    Lowman and Johnson were both taken to Christiana Medical Center where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
    Upon Johnson's release, she was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court seven for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, conspiracy in the second degree, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on $39,000.00 secured bond.
    Johnson was admitted at Christiana Medical Center due to some undisclosed injuries and was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace Court eleven Judge for his Violation of Probation capias and held in the custody of Department of Correction on $100,000.00 cash only bond.
    He will be arraigned for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, disregarding a police officer signal, conspiracy in the second degree, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous other traffic related offenses at a later date.
