  • Dover Police have arrested a Clayton man after he allegedly stole a woman’s purse from inside her apartment.
The incident took place at 11:43 p.m. Thursday, said police spokesman Lt. Marvin Mailey, at an address in the Woodmill Apartment complex. The victim said the alleged burglar, identified as Anthony Nix, 19, of the 500 block of West Street, Clayton, was a known acquaintance who took the purse containing $340 and fled through a sliding glass door.
The victim said she had struggled with Nix in her bedroom, causing her to fall to the ground.
Police spotted Nix running through the apartment complex and placed him under arrest, Mailey said. Cash totaling $297 was found in his underwear when he was searched upon arrival at the Dover Police Department.
Nix was charged with a single count of second-degree burglary and jailed in default of a $1,000 secured bond.
