  • Dover Police have arrested a local man on suspicion of having committed at least seven attempted break-ins and two burglaries.
The suspect was identified as Franklin L. Burris, 34, of the 100 block of Haman Drive, Clearfield Apartments, Dover, said police spokesman Lt. Marvin Mailey.
The break-ins occurred in the area of Lotus and Pine streets, with damage ranging from pry marks to cut screens on rear residence doors, Mailey said. They all took place between approximately 11:30 p.m. May 24 and 6:30 a.m. May 25, according to documents released by Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover.
Mailey said that in one instance, three people witnessed a man entering a residence and either removing or attempting to remove property. The suspect also was recorded on surveillance video.
Burris was arrested June 6 following the police investigation, Mailey said.
Burris was charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, eight charges of attempted second-degree burglary, 10 counts of possession of burglar's tools, nine counts of criminal mischief and two counts of theft where the property is valued at less than $1,500.
He was charged at JP Court 7, then released on a $45,750 unsecured bond.
