Richard J. Flihse "Flip or Dick" of Dover passed away Saturday May 25, 2013 at Delaware Hospice Milford Center in the loving arms of his wife Maureen. He was 62.
Richard was born March 2, 1951 in Hoboken, New Jersey to the late John Flihse a former Hoboken police officer and his loving mother Edna Holmes Flihse.
He served in the United States Air Force as a photographer during Vietnam. After the service, he worked civil service as a photographer at Dover Air Force Base. He was a magician in the Eastern United States known as "Flip Richards" and is a life member and past president of Delaware Knights of Magic. He held many positions throughout his lifetime including the D.O.T. Sign Shop, Ritz Camera and G4S Wackenhut Security Services.
Richard enjoyed educating himself in numerous hobbies and interests including martial arts, lifetime NRA member, and member of W.H.H.S. Rams Riders motorcycle club. He also loved his many anniversary trips to Disney World with Maureen.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maureen McGrail Flihse of Dover, and numerous family member and friends
Memorial services will be held 12PM Saturday June 8, 2013 at Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall 2nd floor, 501 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wounded Warrier Project, PO Box 758817, Topeka, KS 66675 or the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
