Delaware State Police are reporting the death of a New Jersey woman following a Thursday crash south of Magnolia.
The woman, identified as Margaret Plunkett, 75, of Hackensack, N.J., was flown to the Christiana Medical Center after being removed from her car, but died later in the evening.
The accident occurred at 1:56 p.m., said police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit determined Plunkett had been driving westbound on Mulberrie Point Road when she stopped at its intersection with Bay Road, aka Route 1/Route 113. Another vehicle, a 2008 Saab, was approaching the intersection when Plunkett's car entered the intersection and hit the second vehicle on the driver's side door, Fournier said.
The Saab's driver, identified as Meghan Fitts, 18, of Wilmington, was taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital by ambulance where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
The accident remains under investigation, Fournier said.
